Group rides are happening now. We have two separate rides this year – an A and B group – so you have a choice of level. There are two ride leaders, and actual rides will depend somewhat on the groups that show up. Rides leave Gravity Sports every Thursday at 5pm and Sundays at 1:30pm.
These are non-supported rides, bring food, water, and items to fix a flat. Beginners are welcome, but please know your own limitations. Enjoy a fun road ride with others, we hope to see you there! (Note: Gravity Sports, their owners, agents, and employees have agreed to help communicate about such rides, but are in no way responsible for your safety during such rides. Bicycling can be inherently dangerous, and if you choose to participate, it is at your own risk.)

This Summer McCall will be hosting an exciting new trail running race – the McCall Trail Running Classic
. Big views, high altitude peaks and legendary singletrack for starters. Throw in great prizes, well stocked aid stations at reasonable intervals, crew access and a well-marked course. Put it on your race calendar this summer and throw down on 10, 20 or 40 miles of the finest trails in town: Bear Basin, Payette Rim, Sheep Trail, Brundage Lookout, Granite Mountain, Goose Creek Falls Trail and more. Whether you are new to racing or a seasoned pro, there’s a great option for you. Get your registration in – the race is July 14th and is part of the Idaho Trail Ultra Series. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Come test yourself in this year’s ski marathon – tomorrow, Saturday February 25th at Little Bear Basin. The course will be the same as last year, with 15 and 30K skate options. Come challenge yourself and join us for one of the toughest races in the west. This years give- away will be an apron that can be used in the kitchen or the wax room, with our new logo.
We have also added an event on Sunday that could be a great recovery workout or an event in and of itself. It will be a “poker run” requiring a couple of kilometers of skiing at each local venue and ending at Jug mountain’s lodge for soup and sandwiches and some great prizes. Some of the best prizes will be saved for this event so come out and enjoy yourself, recover, and win something!
It has come to our attention that the Blue Circle Sports website is showing the start time as 10:00 am. The actual race start is 9:30 am. Buses will be transporting racers from the Little Ski Hill to Bear Basin. Please allow enough time to catch the bus and ski down to the start area.
Bib pick up is available Friday night here at Gravity Sports from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Below is the waxing recommendation for the race. Good luck everyone – we’ll see ya out there!

Unfortunately, after much anticipation, Brundage is unable to open at this time due to lack of snow. Therefore, the Black Diamond Demo has been cancelled. However, once we have snow, you will be able to demo Gravity’s Black Diamond and Rossi skis at the shop or up at Brundage Mountain. Keep doing your snow dances!!

The reward - riding the trails!
McCall is growing into a great Mountain Biking Destination! And to help spur that momentum, CIMBA (Central Idaho Mountain Biking Association) was able to obtain help from IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association) this past weekend. Several business owners and interested parties along with some dedicated mountain bikers volunteered their time to learn more about mountain biking advocacy, how to improve communities (yes I’m talking about our own) with trails, and some serious hands on training in sustainable trail building.
The visit was incredibly informative, and we got our hands dirty and built a section of trail at Jug Mountain Ranch under the direct guidance of IMBA. We ended the weekend with a tour of one of the local favorites, the Goose Creek trail. It was great to hear from IMBA that McCall has every potential to be a serious Mountain Biking destination! And that benefits everyone in McCall. If you want to find out more go to www.cimbarides.org and also check out the IMBA posting of the event. Thanks to everyone that came out and participated!
Gravity & Jug Mountain Present Jerseys to IMBA in appreciation & to carry the message of McCall riding far & wide.

McCall, ID – CIMBA, our local mountain biking association, will be hosting the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) for four days of club, community, and trail education.
CIMBA is honored to have been selected amongst hundreds of applicants. The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew is a grassroots educational program and an authority on sustainable trail building practices. Two teams of professional trail experts travel year-round throughout the United States and beyond, leading trail work sessions, meeting with land managers and working with IMBA-affiliated clubs and the communities they serve to improve mountain biking opportunities. The Trail Care Crew program has inspired great volunteer trail work and is a big help to government agencies and land managers who have limited funding for trail construction and upkeep.
According to Sidney Bateman, CIMBA Membership Director, “The TCC arrives at a pivotal time for us. Based on the success of the trails in Bear Basin, we are eager to develop and expand more mountain bike specific trails in our area. We hope this event will help us gain more support and involvement from our community and members.”
