Grand RE-Opening Event a Big Success

Thanks to all of our customers, employees, volunteers, and reps for making Gravity Sports’ “Grand RE-Opening” on Saturday a success and tons-o-fun. We were very fortunate to have the weather cooperate, which made for a good time listening to “The Pork Fat Shims” out on the deck, as well as grilling up delicious sausages and playing Gravity Games on the lawn.

Special shout-out to Steve Stuebner for doing the book signing on his latest version of Mountain Biking in McCall, Steve & Kathy Muench of McCall Homes and Land for manning the BBQ and the Wheel-o-Deals, Ron & Carol Reagan for meeting and greeting, and of course Jim Boland for the tunes and good eats from Hog Heaven Sausage Works in Moscow, ID.

Thanks again, and we’ll plan on getting some photos posted soon.

    Disappointed Customer:

Here is the reason for the poor review. We rented 3 canoes and 2 tandems and everything went extremely well as we worked with the employees. After we returned the equipment we showed the employees that one of the seats was damaged while a leader was sitting in it. The employees said there wouldn’t need to be a charge because we had not abused the boats and it could be easily fixed. She also said that we were great renters and very helpful…..
Ten days later Michelle, the owner, called and left a message indicating that she had placed a $75 on my card to replace the seat and to call if I had any questions. Upon calling her she indicated that her employees said we were doing back flips off the canoe, I explained that the leader was sitting in the seat and she said it “didn’t matter” the charge still stood. She also indicated that as a Scout Group we need to do the right thing and I assumed she meant we should let it go

      Steven,

Thanks for you comment. We apologize for the slow response time and mixed communication from our staff. We were actually out of town when the damaged boat was returned and didn’t discover it until we realized that it wasn’t being rented because it was in fact unusable.

While your narration is fair, the fact is that the boat’s seat was busted in three places. A substantial bolt was broken, two wood dowels were snapped in half and there was a pretty decent mar in the bottom of the boat, all indicating that there was some serious downward force, generated by more than appropriate use.

Unfortunately for all parties, it costs us time and money to replace the seat (not to mention the lost revenue associated with having a boat out of commission). As a company, we messed up by not telling you this when you returned the boat. It is now part of our policy. As a whole, We are also extremely generous with our rentals and repair many damaged items free of charge. However, we have to draw the line some place and when items come back like this that are totally unusable, and require hard costs to repair them, we believe that it is only fair for us to be compensated.
